PROMO MYSTIC JOURNEY

Blurb:

In the essence of time, few things are constant. However, two virtues remain steadfast, vengeance and love. One born of the other takes centuries to unravel and peace is nothing more than a tinge of silver lining the gray fog.

Excerpt:
“Doctor Williams, Dr. Sabine Williams, you’re needed in emergency room two stat. Doctor Sabine Williams, you’re needed in emergency stat.”With no more time to consider her dreams, Sabine jumped out of bed, grabbed her stethoscope, and pushed her feet into her shoes. She ran out the door —back to work.“What do we got people?” Sabine asked. She didn’t wait for a reply but walked straight to the patient stretched out on the gurney. The emergency room staff and paramedics continued their tasks as they explained the patient’s obvious injuries.“Officer Drake Boyd, gun shot wound to the head and right leg.”Looking at the still figure on the gurney, the amount of blood he lost caused Sabine to wonder if her patient would make it. A bandage covered one side of his face. Blood soaked through the layers. She took her penlight from her lab coat and flashed it in his eyes. Hazel eyes. A feeling of awareness came over her.A coincidence? Maybe, a left over effect of her dream. She tucked the sentiment back in her mind and continued her assessment. She would deal with dream analysis later. “Pupils are fixed and dilated, non-responsive. Blood pressure?”“110/30 and holding,” stated the young nurse who assisted Sabine.“Who is the neurosurgeon on call?”Sabine eased the bandage off the patient’s head. She lifted the sheet to cover the wound from debris. Using her finger, she assessed the size of the protrusion, the depth of the wound, and found the lodged bullet under a blood filled mass. His swollen brain tissue disfigured the left side of his skull and forehead.“Doctor Green,” The young finished her assessment of Drake before she answered Sabine’s question. The patient’s head moved, uncovering his face, and Sabine froze. The unconscious patient looked familiar. With trembling fingers, she picked up the sheet that covered his body. Blood soaked the dark blue polo shirt of his uniform. Her mind blanked out of everything but her patient. She knew this man, she was sure of it. His identity evaded her memory, but somewhere in the recesses of her mind, she would place this man’s face and remember his name.A ray of hope brightened her spirits. If he would hold on long enough to get him into surgery with Dustin, he may have a chance. “Call him. We’re sending this patient up, now, ETA two minutes.”Sabine unlocked the gurney and began to roll it out of the room.“He’s crashing, Doctor Williams!” the young nurse alerted her.Sabine’s ray of hope grew dim. She locked the gurney wheels in place and administered CPR. “One thousand one, one thousand two…”“Move Doctor Williams, let me at him.”Someone pushed Sabine away from the patient. She turned and saw Alex Cord step beside her.The strength in Alec’s large hands and shoulders pushed against her patient’s chest cavity. Relieved of the added muscle, she knew he could help keep her patient alive until she got him to the operating rooms.”Start wheeling him down,” Alex demanded of the staff.Sabine jumped on the other side of the gurney; the staff unlocked its wheels and rolled him to the OR. Sabine opened his eyelids with gentle pressure, and with her penlight, she flashed his eyes again.“You can’t die on me Drake. You have to stay with me. I need you…”
